The ADTECH Consortium proposes five areas of professional
development:1) LACOE/CTAP Classes and workshops offered
through the Los Angeles County Office of Education;
2) Palm handheld Computing; 3) Course offerings provided
by Cerritos Community College; 4) Interdistrict trainings;
and 5.) Professional development for teachers supervising
student technology experts. Each is described briefly
below. CTAP funding will cover substitute costs,
course fees, materials fees and supplies.
LACOE/CTAP: These classes are
designed and delivered by educators for educators
to increase proficiency in technology in an educational
setting. Hands-on training featuring the latest
technology takes place at the LACOE office in Downey
or is delivered locally to sub-regions.
Palm Training: In coordination
with K12 Handhelds and local certified Palm trainers,
professional development will focus on classroom
and administrative uses of handheld technology. In
most cases, participants will receive their own handheld
computer along with software and training materials.
Cerritos Community College Classes: In
cooperation with the community college the consortium
will offer fee based evening and weekend courses
in the area of educational technology for ADTECH
member teachers.
Interdistrict trainings: Each
of the 14 districts will post their professional
development schedules on the ADTECH web site to
allow teachers throughout the consortium to attend.
The member districts will also share technology
facilities as necessary to allow for collaborative
professional development activities.
Professional development for teachers supervising
student technology experts: ADTECH will
provide training for teachers to prepare for organizing
and managing a group of student technology experts.
This group of student experts can be utlized as
a support system for technolgy integration in schools
within the consortium.
